Freaking nice advertisement! What kind of video equipment did they film that with anyway? Crazy shit.

The AC Nielsen survey job was pretty tough, and I am glad that it’s finally over (finished all the surveys on Tuesday morning). One good thing that came out of it was that it gave me quite a bit of time to practice my self portrait taking skills on my iPhone. It was almost darn impossible to take self portraits with the iPhone. You will never know when the phone will decide to slip itself out of your grip. ^_^
Okay fine, I know I BHB! Hahaha! ^_^
Went for Dim Sum buffet this afternoon with my bro cause he felt like giving me a nice treat. The guy ordered way too much Dim Sum for both of us to finish! Just look at the pics!
Anyway, back to the food. I became quite hooked onto dim sum in the recent couple of months, and have personally been eating dim sum from various restaurants, kopitiams and hawker centres.
Before I got hooked to eating dim sum, my most frequent source of dim sum had always been Orient Ocean, simply because it is a buffet and the price is relatively low.
However, after having dined at famous dim sum places, I realized one thing - Orient Ocean’s dim sum suck big time. Even though the prawn items contain more than one prawn each, and the servings are relatively bigger compared to other places, the meat is bland and tasteless, and I find myself having to eat the dim sum with chilli sauce in order to force the food down my throat. I never eat dim sum with any sauce/dipping!
Until the time comes when I have to treat someone else to dim sum, I doubt I will be visiting Orient Ocean again anytime soon.
P.S. I might re-use this review for The Commoner’s Foodcast’s blog.
Did I mention that I love driving?
I drive everywhere I go. Other people will always try taking public transport when they are too tired to drive. For these people driving is a chore. It is a necessary activity to engage in when one wants to travel from place A to place B, if they do not want to squeeze with the crowds taking public transport or having to entertain the taxi driver when taking taxis. Not me. Driving is a passion. A hobby. A major outlet to relieve stress. I will never give up a chance to practice driving if I have one. I really really love driving.
As a relatively new driver (only into my second year of driving), I take pride in the fact that I am able to masterly control my car to achieve the smoothest drive possible from my 17-year-old Suzuki Swift. Every day I try to find new ways of better controlling my steering, my gear changes, my braking, without losing speed. (Note. My Suzuki Swift is not capable of dangerous speeds)
I am still far from being able to call myself a good driver, but I believe that I am a decent (and safe) one. That said, I consider 95% of the drivers in Singapore to be “Rubbish Drivers” or “Crap Drivers”, and from these 95%, 99.99999999999999% of the females should never have gotten their licenses in the first place. It is high time that the Traffic Police assign some female testers instead of those old sukebe-uncles who smile widely every time they have a female candidate, but become grumpy when they have male ones. All my near-accidents so far have always been caused by female drivers who do stuff like try to lane-change without checking (anything at all, not the mirror, not their blind spot, they just signal and expect no cars to be in the lane they want to enter), or suddenly deciding that they need to stop the car in the middle of the expressway because their phone rang, etc.
Enough of the ranting. I mentioned in first paragraph that driving is one way I relieve stress. The best way of doing that is to go out driving late at night, when most roads are no longer filled with cars. It is then that I take on a different character, and drive differently from how I normally do. (Note. I still drive safely, and observe all traffic rules even when I am driving at night). I will try to do stuff that are probably too hard for my not-so-swift Swift to bear, like braking sequences, braking patterns, harder acceleration control, tackling corners at higher speeds (safely!!!), etc. Sometimes I feel bad for my car after such stress-relieving sessions that I will usually treat my car a lot more gentler for the following few days. Of course, due to the fact that I am still driving on public roads, I still observe all the safely regulations, watch out for jaywalkers, and not trying dangerous stuff. Why is it that the government has still yet to build a track for people like me? They have to realise that not all car lovers/driving fanatics are crazy law-breaking morons.
Driving is really fun. Will someone buy me a 350Z?
Man who made false reports about spotting Mas Selamat jailed
What the XXXX is this? How can they jail the bus driver?
It is as if they are pretending that they take national security very seriously.
Do they?
I don’t think so. After all, they let a limping terrorist escape from detention through the toilet.
Jailing the bus driver in this situation is just like beating up the kid who laughed at you when you stepped on a banana skin and fell. Who in his right mind will do that?
Oh wait. I know a certain people who will.
They are called TYRANTS.
Recently I have been thinking: why is it that girls seemed to prefer quality over quantity, and guys quantity over quality?
I understand that quality is important, but is quantity not equally important as well?
Take the following analogy.
It is tea break time. A group of guys and a group of ladies decided on one thing - to have cake for tea break. All of them got twenty dollars to spend. They walked to the nearby shopping mall and found two places that will allow them to fulfill their wish to have cake for tea break - a restaurant serving high tea buffet for 20 dollars per pax, and a designer cake house that sells specially produced designer cakes for 100 dollars per piece.
The guys chose the buffet, and the ladies the designer cake, even though the group has to fork out 20 dollars per pax to only take a bite each.
Why the difference?
From my point of view, the guys chose the buffet because the buffet satisfies them by;
1. Gives them the power of choice with the difference varieties of cake available, even if they are not picky about their cake
2. More food for less money = Higher quantity for same price as compared to the designer cake
3. Fulfills their goal of having a tea break (filling their stomachs)
The ladies, on the other hand, are satisfied by the designer cake because;
1. They do not need choices, if the only choice available is good enough, they will take it
2. The designer cake’s perceived value and quality empowers them by making them feel that they are eating something of high value and quality
3. Enriches their tea break experience, even if they are left hungry after having only one mouthful each
Do you agree? Do sound off in the comments. I am interested to find out.
P.S. I know the above is a weird analogy for me to use for this topic, but then all my analogies are weird, as those familiar with me will know.
Yet another cooperate video is being produced for the fast dying NUS(National University of Singapore) biz-ad fac, and I predict, yet another wave of humiliation will ensue.
Sometimes you just wonder if NUS is just bad at choosing production houses or have lousy staff who QC the production houses’ works.
This time round the mistake lies with the production house using non-NUS students, in fact, I believe, even non-students, in the shoot. Apparently their basis for using the non-NUS students was their claim that NUS students are seriously lacking in the looks department. Either they are too lazy to venture around Arts fac or are simply blind.
One look and you can tell the “MBA students” are not just not MBA students, they do not even look like students.
Hahz. This is so fake. Yet another prime example of the low quality production in some of the local production houses.
Why do I IM so much?
Why do I IM to communicate?
There are several advantages of doing that. For me it’s because IM is easier for me to say everything that I have on my mind. And that I will not be distracted by the other party from saying everything that I want to say. And while I infer emotions very well from just pure digital text on a computer screen, many others don’t. Maybe that is why I tend to quarrel with others a lot easier online than in person.
I have a bad temper. And that temper shows up a lot more frequently on my digital texts. My emails, my SMSes, my IM conversations. Anything that ticks me off gets shit from me. Big shit.
In recent years I have taken to do all my serious conversations online rather than by emails, SMSes, or calling. Emails and SMSes does not provide the immediate response that I need from all my serious conversations. Calling does not work because I no longer feel confortable calling people - my last gf insisted that I IM her instead of calling her simply because she was afraid that her family will find out about our relationship. Somehow that made a lasting impression on me. The refusal to take my calls eventually ended the relationship, but somehow I got stuck with using IM instead of calling people.
Then again maybe it is just my unwillingness to be prepared for a vocal conversation, especially if it is with people that I give a damn about. Maybe I am just a coward who hides behind the chat window of Adium. Maybe this. Maybe that.
All I know is that I no longer call anyone for casual chatting, or for any important conversations. Not anymore.
Is this bad? Maybe.
But I doubt this will change anytime soon so I might just as well stick to it.
